Organic since 1985

At Taylor Brothers Farms, we started growing organically long before the word became a household term. In the late eighties, feeling growing concern over the use of manufactured chemicals, John and Richard turned to their father, George, to find out how he farmed prior to the sixties.

His advice confirmed their hunch: there clearly was a better way! They started replacing man-made chemicals with compost and cover crops, such as the mustard we see growing under the plum trees in spring.

By 1990, all of Taylor Brothers Farms’ prunes were being grown organically and by 1997 all Taylor Brothers orchards were organic.

 

 

 Taylor Brothers Farms holds several certifications, including USDA ORGANIC & the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), the only full service organic certification and trade association providing premier organic certification programs.
